Kijani Forestry (Uganda)
Kijani Forestry is Uganda's leading market-driven reforestation enterprise, dedicated to planting tens of millions of trees across East Africa through its innovative Nursery Hub model. By providing free seedlings, hands-on training, and a guaranteed buy-back program, Kijani enables smallholder farmers to reforest degraded land without upfront costs.
In 2024, the company planted over 12 million trees, created and sustained 620 direct full-time jobs, and impacted 28,741 smallholder farmers—many of whom now have a clear pathway to quadruple their per-acre incomes over a decade. Committed to full transparency via the Kijani Field App, Kijani also produces high-quality carbon credits and is poised to commence commercial-scale charcoal and timber harvesting in 2025, positioning itself at the forefront of sustainable forestry and socioeconomic transformation.
