Faith’s story began long before she ever imagined a career in tech. While still on campus, life at home shifted. Her mother lost her job, expenses grew, and suddenly she found herself needing to support both her education and her family.
Faith Kivuva
Software Engineer, BURN Manufacturing

Determined not to let financial strain stop her studies, Faith took out a small loan through her campus SACCO and began searching for part-time work. Her very first opportunity came unexpectedly, a short-term holiday job as an electrical enumerator. What she thought would be a one-week gig turned into a three-month contract, and ultimately became the doorway to BURN.
Balancing classes, assignments, and work was tough, but Faith kept going. By the end of her first year at BURN, she had already cleared her loan and eased the financial pressure at home. What she didn’t expect was how deeply the company would shape her career.
She started out in marketing and sales, far from the software development path she was studying for. Naturally shy and unsure of her place, she often sat quietly waiting for opportunities to find her. But one day, during a presentation, a supervisor noticed her potential and introduced her to the software team. That single moment changed everything.
Faith interned with the software team for months, learning, unlearning, failing, improving, and slowly finding her voice. The transition was not easy. She had to shift from relying on people skills in the field to learning technical structures, programming logic, and the pressure of problem-solving.
“It was a very steep learning curve,” she admits.
There were moments she felt overwhelmed, moments she doubted whether she belonged, but the challenges lit a fire in her. Every difficult project became fuel. She couldn’t rest until she understood it fully and completed it.
Her drive came from more than ambition. She wanted to ease the burden on her parents, be a role model to her younger siblings, and prove to herself that she could build the life she dreamed of. Slowly, the girl who once questioned her abilities started leading with confidence.
From intern to junior developer, to software developer, to Software Engineer, Faith eventually became a Software Team Lead, all in four years. She laughs about it now, admitting that her younger self could never have imagined holding such responsibility.
Beyond her professional achievements, Faith has grown spiritually. She is an active youth leader in her local church, mentoring and encouraging young people. Her story reflects perseverance, continuous learning, and the drive to uplift herself, her family, and her community.
Asked if she thinks she’s a good leader, she smiles.
She is still learning. Still growing. Still becoming. But she leads with heart, and that is what her team sees most.
